New Musical Kinky Boots, Starring Billy Porter and Stark Sands, to Record Cast Album

The cast of Kinky Boots is getting ready to strut into the studio as the rocking new musical will release a cast recording in May. With a book by Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, the show features a score by Grammy winner Cyndi Lauper. Billy Porter and Stark Sands star in the production, which is currently in previews at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in anticipation of its April 4 opening.

Joining Porter and Sands in the fabulous cast of Kinky Boots are Annaleigh Ashford, Celina Carvajal, Daniel Stewart Sherman and Marcus Neville.

Based off of the 2005 film of the same name and inspired by a true story, the musical follows Charlie Price (Sands), who inherits his father’s struggling shoe factory and finds unlikely inspiration from Lola (Porter), an entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. As the two work together to save the factory, this pair finds they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible.
